Liquid Silicone Keypad Assemblies
Liquid Silicone LSR Keypad Assemblies
Silicone keypads are used with many electronic devices, often forming part of an assembly with a plastic injection moulding or metal enclosure.
Where a high sealing IP rating is required Rubbertech can offer a unique over-moulding solution that removes the concern of leakage where the keypad is assembled to the surface of an enclosure or where the keypad buttons exit apertures in the enclosure.
The solution we offer uses both mechanical and chemical bonding to ensure the very best seal is achieved.
If a plastic enclosure is being used, we pre-mould the plastic component and then load this into the Liquid Silicone (LSR) injection tool. Unlike standard keypad grade silicone used in compression moulding the liquid silicone process does not require high compression forces so does not have any effect on the plastic enclosure.
Once moulded the keypad over moulding can be finished with printing, spray coatings and laser etching if backlighting is required.
To assist customers with their assembly time and costs we can also supply keypads assembled to a flexible printed circuit or FPC. These assemblies can incorporate metal dome switches, LEDs for backlighting and are supplied with cable and connector.
Offering a quality premium finish, this moulding option adds value as well as technical advantages to customer products.
