Customers demand a faster turnaround on prototype rubber mouldings
Customers often want to test their design before committing to more expensive production tooling, there are several options for prototyping.
We work with trusted toolmakers who can produce a prototype aluminium mould tool in just 2 weeks, using aluminium tools for prototypes ensures the parts produced are in the material that would be used in production and will offer the same moulding tolerances. These tools can also be used for short run initial production whilst the larger tooling is being produced.
Alternatively, Prototype mouldings can also be produced using RTV silicone or PU in a SLA Casting tool. This is much quicker and cheaper than aluminium tooling and first off sample could be supplied within 7-10 days. Although the material is not the same as the material that would be used in production it is often good enough to test for fit, function and confirm suitability of the design.
Depending on the design of the moulding and what is required from the prototype will determine which method is best suited to use for prototyping.
