Faster Lower Cost LSR Prototypes

Utilising 3D printing technology we are now able to create liquid silicone rubber (LSR) prototype components. Although this prototyping option is subject to some size constraints when larger mouldings are required it does offer accurate functional prototypes quickly and for relatively low cost.

However, 3D parts are prototypes, for ultimate resolution, a steel or alloy production tool will beat 3D. Further, we typically supply between 1 and 10 parts from 3D, while steel production tools will produce tens of thousands and last a lifetime.

We design and print the moulds in house and use a process suited to low volume prototyping to create the LSR mouldings. Compared to steel and aluminium tools, 3D prototyping is much lower cost and faster.

We can typically turn prototypes around in one week.

Prototypes produced by this method will be representative of the products in production using HTV Silicone. HTV (High Temperature Vulcanising)
